October 4th
The Fall season record for Sports Reach Fastpitch
stands at 5 wins and 2 losses after two October 4th games at
Campbellsville University. The team fell one run short against
Campbellsville after a 6th inning two-out comeback and followed
that effort to close out the day with a win over a talented
Kentucky Monarchs travel team.
September 27
Sports Reach faced Indiana University Southeast and Team Akadema
(Indianapolis, IN) during the IUS Invitational. Sports Reach
rebounded from a 9-3 loss to Team Akadema by coming out on
victorious against IUS by a score of 3-2.
Leading
up to the two games at IUS, the team was welcomed into the
garage facilities of one of the top drivers on the
ARCA
circuit, Frank Kimmel and his Ansell-Menards Kimmel
Racing team.

We appreciate Mr. Kimmel for making himself available to us and
sharing his time answering questions, signing autographs and
inspiring the girls with his commitment and compassion for his

SPORTS REACH
FASTPITCH COMPLETES INAUGURAL SUMMER SEASON

The following is an article
published in the latest edition of the Sports Reach
publication...
Finish with a win...
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have
kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award
to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have
longed for his appearing.
(2 Timothy 4:7-8)
While the scorebook doesn't show that the 18U Sports Reach Girls
Fastpitch softball team finished with a win to close out their
summer travel ball season, you can be assured that it was a
successful season of victories on and off the field.
The team coached by Kevin Johnson and based out of Louisville
Kentucky, completed their inaugural season as champions of 2
tournaments and with runner-up finishes in 3 tournaments,
including the ASA 18U Hall Of Fame Classic in Oklahoma City, as
well as a hard-fought 5th place finish in the NSA A World
Series in East Peoria Illinois.

In between tournaments and prior to their trip to the NSA World
Series, the team went on a mission trip that involved activities
in Knoxville and Nashville Tennessee as well as conducting a
mini-camp at the South Jefferson Christian Church in Louisville.
The girls along with Coach Johnson, and parent, Nathan Cornette,
involved themselves in activities with children at various local
outreach facilities and also worked with a large food bank
operation.
Showing the same teamwork at the food bank as they showed on the
field, the girls processed boxes of food to be delivered to
several thousand families. The food bank supervisor was
overwhelmed and impressed with the effort that the girls gave
towards their mission.
Also highlighting the mission trip was the red carpet
treatment they received from University of Tennessee's co-head
coach Ralph Weekly.

Coach Weekly, who along with his wife Karen, run one of
America's premier college programs and are blessed with a new
state-of-the-art facility that the girls were given a full tour
of before taking the field for an exhibition game with the
Chattanooga Fury.
The mini-camp found the girls once again interacting with
children, this time on the field and afterwards with a lunch of
hamburgers and hotdogs. It was another great day and opportunity
to spread the word and mission through softball.
During their travels, there was no shortage of people wanting to
know "what the team was about" and they would soon learn that
it's more a matter of "who" it's about.
The simple showing of the Sports Reach logo on the scoreboard
during the four games the team played on the Hall Of Fame
Stadium field in Oklahoma City created an awareness and
atmosphere like no other. And when the teams gathered to pray,
just as they did after all games, the silent spirit throughout
the stadium was a special moment.
Hearts were touched during the season and the work begun now
will continue to provide victories for years to come.
